Can you use USA food stamps in Canada?

  • I'll be taking a ride with a few friends to Canada, and i was wondering if i could use my card to purchase food while there. If not, is it ok to bring a weekend amount of food across the border?

In other words you can make a sandwich when you get here. Leave the ingredients in their original sealed packages until you get here. and NO you cannot use your American Card in Canada. No. We do not have that system in Canada. You can bring food with you, subject to a few items, like some fruits, and meats, which can't cross the border.

No you cannot use them in another state, let alone another country. You can take food with you over the border there are restrictions on some things like cheese.

Food stamps are only valid for the US.

You can bring your food stamps to Canada but the cashier at the grocery store will only give an inquisitive stare at first as he/she wonders what they are and after you explain, will burst out laughing when you try to use them. Yes you can bring food over the border with some exceptions. See link below:

Canada and the USA are two different countries. Canada's a kingdom, the US is a republic. US stuff only works in the US, not Canada. You can bring back groceries, just make sure you tell US customs and have the receipts to show where you bought the food. Food stamps is an American program. It cannot be used in foreign countries. I dont know if you can bring food back into the U.S. without paying duty.
