If you cross by land, you will need either a passport, or an NEX card. Your green card is seen Canadian Border guards as nothing more than a piece of junk and possibly fake id. It alone will not get you across the border FROM the US to CANADA.

You don't have any problems; all you need to travel to Canada and back to the U.S is your valid Green Card. You may get answers from "experts" here stating that everybody needs a passport to travel, just disregard them, they are wrong.. as a green card holder you don't even need a passport to enter Canada and return to the US.....your green card is all you need
