  I cant speak to tehran but here in vancouver the water supply is from three mountain lakes just north of the city whose watersheds are pristine and out of bounds to everyone and logging. . The water is brought from the mountains and under the Burrard Inlet in pipes and distributed throughout the greater vancouver area. They use chlorine to disinfect at the primary intake and have booster chlorination stations further out in the burbs. The entire system is gravity fed. Water quality is excellent as you would expect given the source. Very soft and no hard minerals at all.
