Can someone explain to me how to get from the Vancouver airport to commercial drive?

I'm assuming you mean by public transport, not just directions. If so, you need some coins for exact fare, I think the fare is $3.25 daytime, $2.25 off peak (after 6.30pm/Sats/Sun) but you can check on translink.ca - follow signs for the buses (near the domestic terminal entrance/exit doors, turn right as you exit, I think it's on level 3) - there is a bus stop for employees, ignore that one and go past it, the one you want is further up. Take the 424 bus to Airport Station, which is as far as it goes. At Airport Station find the bus stop facing the main highway, this should be for the 98B-line bus to Downtown (Waterfront Station). Take the 98B-line to either (a) Broadway or (b) Burrard Station or (c) the final stop at Waterfront Station. If (a), walk from the bus stop where you got off, northwards, and turn right onto Broadway to the 99B-line bus stop. Get the 99B-line to Commercial Drive/Broadway. If (b) or (c) ask the driver to indicate where the Skytrain station is (they are underground, not all that obvious from street level so it pays to get a point in the right direction) and take the Expo line Skytrain to Commercial Drive/Broadway. Whichever you choose, the journey takes about an hour. Your single purchase ticket is valid for 90 minutes so you should do the whole trip on one ticket - keep it with you as spot checks are made.
