What are some good talent agencies in Vancouver?

How to start acting in Vancouver?

  • I've been living in Vancouver all my life and have wanted to start acting since a long time ago. I'm a 13 year old girl with a little bit of experience, but a big passion. I've been searching all over the place where to start acting...I can't find any answers. The only thing I found is Hollywood North Extras but that is only an extras agency and only 1 in 10 people get accepted, I want to actually audition for movies from Universal Studios or something like that. People from Hollywood always come here to film and that why I can audition here. I hate when people say you can't because I know some people who live here and have acted in those types of movies. Well-known movies....but did everything here. Even if it's not that well know, I'm fine with that...just to gain more experience. But as long as it's not like a company which no one at all knows about. Also, some good talent agencies would also be helpful. Thanks!

  • Answer:

Just take any acting opportunity that arises. Get involved with a community theatre group, a school theatre group, and anything. There is no one way to become a famous actor. If there was, then so many people would take it. That's why you're not getting clear answers. All those famous actors out there had their own paths. But one common thing usually is that they just did whatever they could to act. You know what you want. Just do what you can in the meantime. When opportunities more suited to you come up, take them. Talent agencies and extras agencies can be helpful, but a lot of them exist just to make money from people they'll never get any jobs for. A true talent agency will not charge you any money for a portfolio of photos or whatever. They will make money from you by getting you work. It's up to them to sell you. There are agencies out there that will charge you for their services. It's very unlikely you'll get any work from them. They know how to talk to you to make you feel good about spending the money. Always keep your eyes out for auditions. You can google "vancouver auditions" every few days and see what you get. Again, get involved in acting in your community. The more time you spend acting, the better you'll get, and the more things you'll learn about acting jobs.

Other answers

Join a local theatre company. No pay but lots of experience. No-one will audition you without an agent and a resume.

Go to an acting school here in Vancouver, and when you are good enough, they will refer you to a proper agency. <1 in 10 get accepted>? Those are better odds than many unemployed people face every day. Why do you expect to get everything handed to you on a silver platter? Become good enough, and they will notice you(and that includes attitude and poise).

Maybe???

of course you're going to have to accept acting jobs with companies that no one knows at all. It's not like one day you'll wake up and have acting skills. Dumb children
