What is the cheapest way to get to Arizona from Seattle?

Whats the cheapest way to get to vancouver island from seattle, wa?

  • i just arrived in seattle and am hoping things will work out so that my daughter and i can live here.. weve only been here less then a week and i dont have a car so im pretty overwhelmed! i cant seem to find out very much info about the best way to get from here to vancouver island- ive got a ton of relatives there and want to visit them soon.. but the only website ive found is for the "clipper" and it costs $90 one way!! and its pedestrians only!! obviously id be purchasing the round trip ticket for a bit of a discount, but is that really the cheapest way to go? i might be purchasing a car soon but want to get by without one as long as i can. i remember taking the ferry with my mom when i was younger and it was only like $40 for a vehicle.. but im not sure where that was.. does anyone have any suggestions ???

  • Answer:

Well, fares have gone up since you were younger. There's also the Coho ferry, but it leaves from Port Angeles. The Washington State ferries has one from Anacortes to Sidney, which is about a 45 minute drive from downtown Victoria. BC Ferries goes to Swartz Bay, about half an hour from downtown Victoria, and you can take a transit bus into downtown, but that ferry leaves from Tsawwassen so you'd have to get there first and it's about a 3 hour drive from Seattle. There are buses that go there, but they'll probably cost as much as the Clipper ferry. The Clipper is pricey because it's the fastest way to get from Seattle to Victoria.

The MV Coho is a lot slower but cheaper. That's probably what your mom took. But it leaves from Port Angeles. The other way is going to Vancouver and taking BC Ferries. If in your situation, I would probably take the Clipper option. Depending on the schedule though. As long as relatives can pick you up.

If you don't have a car, the ferry is the best way to go. You could check out Greyhound bus lines, but it is probably goingn to be about the same.
