What is so good about shopping in canada?

How good is the shopping in Canada?

  • Are the prices as cheap as in America? Any extra details on shopping in Vancouver?

  • Answer:

Go to Metrotown which is a huge mall. You can catch the skytrain from downtown Vancouver and its about 20mins away. Its open until about 10pm each night. In Vancouver itself, there are many little pockets of shops - Granville Island is great, Kits is cool, Gastown is touristy, Robson St is higher end, etc. There are lots of smaller shops in central Van who make local or more individual items. Have fun shopping!!!

Lots of shopping in Vancouver. Hit Robson St. for all the designer stores and plenty of uniquely Canadian shopping (Roots store, etc.). If you are lucky you will spot a celebrity or two. With our strong dollar our prices are starting to come down and become more reflective of American prices. I went shopping in Washington last October and was not that impressed by the prices at all. Prices on both sides of the border are actually pretty comparable. Things are a LITTLE cheaper in the US, but not by much.

Go to any mall near the Canadian border on the US side, and you'll most likely see more Canadian license plates in the parking lot than American ones. When I went to Canada last year, I couldn't afford to buy anything. The jeans I usually buy were on sale at one store, and even with the conversion rate, they were twice the price of the not-on-sale price I normally pay in the US.

Hey, I'm all patriotic and such but our prices are just so high that' it's crazy. In Vancouver you'll find the sizes to be very small, if you come from the US. I don't say that to be obnoxious but really, people are a)very fit and b)very Asian in Vancouver.

In general, no. Prices are more expensive in Canada than the US. The notable exception is electricity. There is very little competition in Canada to drive the price down.

Nope, everything is cheaper in the states. Everyone I know makes at least one trip down to Seattle each year to shop, some every month.

Many Vancouverites cross the border into Bellingham/Seattle for better prices and selection of goods.
