Are strings garbage collected?

How has the Toronto garbage strike affected you?

  • I live in a Condo, so we just throw our trash down the chute. But, I'm not sure what's happening to all the garbage being collected downstairs. I know some people have hired private garbage collectors.

    My Grandparents live in T.O. They live in a brand new condo right downtown, so they are not really affected (they spend the summer up at their Muskoka cottage). But they said that temporary dump sites have been set up in parks and beaches. That must suck for tourists. Also, I heard it is not just garbage that is not being collected, but beach water is not being tested for swimming, and restaurant health and safety is not being monitored. It is really silly...

It just made me drive further out to dump my garbage. What a lot of people fail to see (and this happens a lot because there are more idiots than people with common sense in Toronto) is to drive to a friend's place out in York, Durham, or Peel and dump the garbage there on their pickup day. OR If you really want to be bitter, dump it in a gas station. You'll be paying through the nose when gas goes up, might as well get the most bang for your buck. Or even a traditional bank since they charge you just to keep your own money in one of their accounts, so the idea is the same. (It's actually better to keep your money under a mattress instead of being service charged.)

I live in a house so the garbage is in huge bags (yes we have alot of garbage) and we drive it somewhere to dump it. The locations you can dump the garbage at is stated in the newspaper so it just makes out drive further to get rid of our garbage rather than just leaving it on the curb D; Not my idea of fun ...

The city worker are lazy over pay. I live in Toronto over twenty years. They lazy when even not on strike. I have spring cleaning over the years. Before the limited size and charge for volume, Every time over three bags, they just leave it and not pick up. I have to rations out for them willing to pick it up. I complain about it they rude and unfriendly. Just fire the whole union, I am sure tons of people can do their job, cheaper, better. Anyone willing to take over, please make a offer at the city hall. Great money ! oppunties! I hear some people willing to pay to take away garbage for $10 per bags. Come with your truck and make money!
