What is a good summer camp on the East Coast?

Planning a trip to the east coast this summer, live near Toronto, any suggestions as to what to see?

  • I am planning on going on a road trip this summer with a few friends. We want to camp along the way and are planning on taking about ten days. We're leaving from Barrie Ontario, to the east coast. Wondering if there are any suggestions about things to see, parks to stop at, we don't have our final destination planned out either.. perhaps Newfoundland? Any input would be great since I'm kind of uncertain where to start..

    You definitely need to check out the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. The Fundy tides are also really cool. The place places to see them would be at the Hopewell Rocks or the small community of Alma outside of Fundy National Park. If you are coming in August there is an annual Busker Fest on the Halifax water front which is really cool. Newfoundland is awesome. George Street in St. John's is one of the coolest places in Canada. The George Street Festival at the end of July/start of August is amazing : http://www.stjohnstime.ca/en/gsf/.

Driving? Along the TransCanada hwy through New Brunswick, you'll be near the Bay of Fundy which has the world's highest tides. Grand Manan is a lovely island with campgrounds, whale watching, hiking... Fundy National Park is further along the Fundy shore... the Hopewell Rocks area... Nova Scotia has many picturesque places too, & Cape Breton has a wonderful coastline. Google any of these for more info.
