Immigrating to Toronto, Canada?
-
I live in Skopje, the capital of Macedonia (most of you have never heard of this city) and after university I plan to move to Toronto. I want to know what are my chances? I am in high-school now and after that I plan to go to a University in my city ( Marketing Management or Accounting) and after that I plan to go to postgraduate studies so I become Master in Marketing or Master in Accounting. There are more Universities here and they are a part of the European Credit Transfer System but I want to know if my University degree is valid in Canada. Also I speak English, French, Spanish, German and Macedonian (I hope to learn Italian too) and I understand Serbian, Bulgarian. I have family in Toronto too. So, what do you think my chances are to immigrate to Canada after my postgraduate studies when I am 23,24 years old? Also what are my chances for getting a job in Toronto with my qualifications?

Answer:
My crystal ball isn't that accurate - but if you complete the program you outlined, if you don't have a criminal record, if you get a job offer from a firm in Canada, then your chances are pretty good. Will your degree be recognized in Canada? Some are, some aren't. There is a Chartered Accountant's association in Canada that could tell you for sure whether your degree would be accepted or whether you would have to do further study to meet Canadian requirements. Your best bet for right now, would be to contact the Canadian Consulate in Skopje and ask them about the preliminary steps you can take towards immigration, and to ask about the recognition factor for your degree. Good luck - you sound very ambitious! And you have a very good grasp of English. If your French, Spanish, German and other languages are that fluent, you are wasted in accounting and should be looking for a job either teaching languages or translating.
