What are some fun things to do in Toronto?
-
My husband and I are going to Canada this coming weekend for a short trip. We will stay at a small hotel near the Pearson airport. (yyz) We heard there are great places to eat there but what kind of nearby places offer good seafood and what kind of prices? Also, what are some fun things besides the Cn tower to do around the area? We will be taking public transportation everywhere. It must be accessible by that. Thanks for suggestions!

Answer:
If you are staying near the airport you are a long ways from downtown Toronto. Places to see besides the CN Tower are High Park, Ontario Place, The Royal Ontario Museum, The Art Gallery, Centre Island and the subway system are just a few. Have Fun and welcome to Canada.

Hello! I'm visiting too in a few weeks and I've been doing a little research. First of all let me recommend you the Website for the Toronto Transit Commission http://www3.ttc.ca/Trip_planner/index.jsp It has this wonderful trip planner where you can include the origin (v.gr. your hotel or Pearson airport) and the destination (v. gr. Eaton Centre or The Royal Ontario Museum) and it gives you the most specific details regarding public transportation via Subway or Bus plus detailed directions (even for the walking segments) I heard they have what once was The World's Biggest Bookshop, walking distance from Dundas subway station. .Best of luck on your trip

Well once your in the subway system, there`s a TON of places fairly easily accessible by streetcar and subway. Take the 192 Airport rocket bus and it`ll take you right to kipling station on the Bloor-Danforth subway line. If you`re new to the city I`d avoid the buses too much as they can be very confusing.. whereas subway and streetcar are totally straightforward. In fact if I were you, I`d try and take the streetcar alot, because the TTC subway is mostly underground, so all you see is the tunnel walls, whereas the streetcar is above ground, so you get to see all the goings on! As for things to do, I`d suggest the CN tower for sure (but only once, it get`s boring after the first time), the AGO is amazing. I`d check out college street, as it is really charming. Check out the islands, walk around downtown and enjoy the sky scrapers. Eaton centre is good too, and of course yonge-dundas square. Also nice are chinatown, queen street, the fashion district (King and spadina to king and bathurst) yorkdale mall is pretty fun, but in the end it is just a mall. Downtown toronto is fairly spread out , but it`s all well serviced by public transit so you should be just fine in getting around ! Good luck, James
