Information on Toronto?
-
Okay so I'm a student (18) in Ireland planning to move to Toronto in a few years for extra study. Can anyone from there or who has been there tell me a bit about it? Such as prices, sights, sports, nightlife, colleges and jobs? Thanks in advance.

Answer:
According to the most recent findings by Mercer, cost of living in Dublin is higher than in Toronto. They ranked 25 and 76 respectively. But of course, as with any city in the world, prices for things right downtown can be higher because it's a more expensive area to live in. Plus the conversion rate for your Euros will be favourable (compared to moving from Toronto to Ireland.) For sights and attractions, just have a look at the tourism website: http://www.seetorontonow.com/Visitor/Experience/Attractions.aspx Nightlife won't be a problem. The list on that tourism website isn't very good. There is no shortage of clubs, bars, and pubs in TO. In sports, we have the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team. They're usually terrible, but we will never stop cheering for them. They play at the Air Canada Centre. In baseball, the Blue Jays, who play at the nifty Skydome (now called the Rogers Centre, but screw that.) The Raptors are our basketball team, and they play at the Air Canada Centre as well. Also the Argos CFL team, the Toronto Rock lacrosse team, and we have Toronto FC as well, not that Canada is known for its prowess in that sport. A lot of people follow NFL football even though there are no Canadian teams. Toronto has 3 universities: University of Toronto (St. George), York University, and Ryerson University. U of T and Ryerson are downtown, and York is north of Toronto, but still in the Greater Toronto Area. Toronto also has numerous colleges. There are probably some that I don't even know are in the city. The Ontario College of Art and Design, Humber, George Brown, and Seneca are all located in or have a campus in Toronto. Jobs? Well, it's a pretty lively city. Lots of opportunities for jobs, and lots of people to take them. The unemployment rate is comparable to the rest of the country (about 7.6%). Edit: I'm having a look at that tourism website...maybe I'm missing something, but it appears to be terrible. Why is it that clicking on things just gives a small blurb about the what there is to see, and then a bunch of semi-relevant links? Some of the pages are better than others at showing the most important things :\
