How do i go about moving from the UK to Toronto, Canada?
-
Currently residing in Northern Ireland, I wish to move to Toronto to live and work, but from what little i can find, I may have to wait up to 3 years. Aside from marrying someone, whats the best and fastest way to go about this legally? The websites ive seen are amazingly confusing. Any help appreciated!

Answer:
1.The fastest way is to get a job offer from a company. That way, the comapny sponsors you and you get your work permit. 2. Via Provinces Nominee program e.g. Nova Scotia Nominee Program http://novascotiaimmigration.com/

I don't know if you have checked with Canadian Immigration and Citizenship, but if not, here's the link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html Good luck to you..Toronto is a great city...I live 2 hours away in London!

I don't know, but I live in Toronto and dude there are immigrants from every place in the world. It's a sick place to live, and it shouldn't be hard to get in since I see immigrants everywhere anyway... Kinda sucks sometimes >_<

visit your local Canadian Embassy and ask all the questions you need to, but it looks like your initial footwork is right - 3 years or so. I think it might speed up the process if you actually had a job lined up.

I'v heard that in certain places in Canada (not sure if Toronto is one of them) that they are dying to hire long distance truck drivers. I think you need to find out what occupation is severely lacking, and there are ways to get to Canada through that. Especially now, because most people don't seem to want to work. there are so many jobs (not all good ones though)

If you have 3 years, it'll give you time to save your money!!! If you want to feel at home, move to Montreal Quebec which has a good Irish community and has a yearly St. Patrick's Day parade, second only to the one in Boston. Go to the Can. Consulate and start filling out forms. Find an employer and have them help push buttons for you.
