Do I need a visa to Canada?

Do I need Visa to enter Canada?

  • I have a US visa interview at the US consulate in Calgary, Canada on September 14, 2010 at 8:30 in the morning so I need to arrive in Calgary on September 13 so not to be late on my appointment. I applied for renewal of my canadaian visa 2 months ago but I was refused. I live in the USA now and need to renew my L2 visa . My question is do I need canadian visa in order to attend an interview at US consulate in Calgary? I have no more time to apply for canadian visa if ever. I need your immediate reply. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Answer:

I would contact the consulate that you submitted your application for the visa to. They may issue a visa so you can attend the appointment. I'm not sure if this is policy, but sometimes the immigration officials in Canada will adjourn the examination and allow you to go to the American consulate so long as you report back to the border when you are finished. Then they just refuse your entry and allow you to return to the USA. The American officials will also sometimes do this for people in Canada that are trying to re apply for status in Canada and need to visit the consulate in the USA. It does happen every once in a while. If you are flying to Calgary it might be a lot more difficult because the airline attendants will want to see a Canadian visa before they let you on a plane.

If your application for a Canadian visa was refused, you will not be admitted to Canada. Sorry, but that means you aren't going to be able to attend your interview.

If you need a visa to visit Canada, you'll need a visa to get to the consulate in Calgary. Whether or not you need a visa to visit depends on where your citizenship is. If you were refused a visitor's visa, chances are that the Old Lady is correct. I was wondering if it was some other kind of visa that you were turned down for? If you re-apply for a visa only long enough to attend the interview, that might be helpful. Check out Citizenship and Immigration's web site. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/index.asp

Americans and Green Card holders do NOT need Visas to enter Canada and Never have had to. Americans can Visit Canada for 6 Months without a Visa. Simply inform them of the purpose of your visit and if you have Not had any other Immigration violations, why would the refuse you. Some of these answers...My God To get the correct answer you Should indicate you citizenship and what Passport you have and you status in the US and if you are LPR in the USA,!
