Is there a good Campground in New Jersey? Near the beach?

Looking for family campground near beach in Ontario?

  • I'm looking for a nice family campground near a beach to go to this weekend. I live in Mississauga so I don't want anything more than a 3 hour drive since we have two young children. We were hoping to camp at The Pinery in Grand Bend, but because we left it to the last minute, it's completely booked. Any other ideas? We don't want to do Sauble Beach and were thinking possibly in the Georgian Bay area but we're open to other ideas!

  • Answer:

The Pinery is beautiful and has lovely sites. Every park sets aside a certain percentage of their campsites for same-day drop-ins. For the past two years, I've camped there using that system, arriving in the afternoon, and had amazing sites. The first year, we had to move camp for the second night, and the second year, we had the same site both nights that we were there. "All 77 parks that offer reservations also offer some campsites on a first-come, first served basis. There are another 11 provincial parks that accept campers on a first-come, first-served basis only. For an updated campground vacancy report, call 1- 800-ONTARIO (668-2746) during July and August or visit the Ontario Parks website (www.OntarioParks.com)."

Why not try the Picton Area, lots of campgrounds around the sand banks.
