New winter coat.. warm and waterproof?

Which winter coat to buy for Toronto, Canada?

  • I've spent my last winter shivering, this year is going to be different. I want a coat that is uncomfortably warm, and I want it at a good price. I asked around and I've narrowed it down to 3 (but still accepting options): Canada Goose Bomber (575$), Moose Knuckles Bomber (745$) or a combination of a waterproof outer shell and a insulated interior (about 250$ each). Any suggestions? P.S. I heard that Canada Goose jackets weren't waterproof (why I looked at Moose Knuckles), can anyone vouch for that?

    wow you sure want to blow a lot of money, you can go to an army surplus store or value village and fine a good winter jacket for $10-$100 easy, or just wear a sweater under a light coat which will work in most situations unless you are a massive wimp or outside for like 30 hours straight.

I would recommend the moose knuckles bomber. I picked up their parka last fall and i don't have a single regret. On top of being warm, I got many complements on how great the jacket looked on me. These guys did a great job of making a functional jacket without sacrificing style, warmth and comfort. It is in fact waterproof, so if you can afford it, I say get one while you can.

I have two coats for different days... One is a pea coat for the no precipitation/low wind days The other is a ROOTS 3 layer shell coat that is good for upto -45'... you can take layer out, or go with all three layers... Both coats probably cost me less than $500...
