Answer:
I am a Canadian living in the UK. But my husband (a brit) are looking to move back. Canada is encouraging the immigration of skilled people. You would have an advantage because you are a teacher. Here's a little more info. Your best bet is to ring the Canadian Embassy in England to receive more info. See below.

You do not necesarily need anyone to hire you and sponsor you to immigrate to Canada. You can apply and if you qualify, you can immigrate. Download the form from the official government website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/index.html.... Or go into any Canadian Consulate, High Commission or Embassy and pick one up. The form has to be filled out and signed. Mail that in to the closest Canadian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate. You can then use the same site to follow the progress of your application. There is an official call centre where an prospective immigrant can get information on immigrating to Canada. CAUTION :- There are many fraudsters that claim to help people immigrate to Canada. Be careful. There is nothing like a government authorized agency. The government of Canada has made the immigration process simple enough for the average person to follow and do it themselves. Private agencies do not have any power over the decision made on an application. Do not get defrauded.

I live in canada and it is a great place to live. Check the canadian government website. They have a link on the right hand side that says 'moving to canada from another country'

A word of caution, though, since you are a teacher: Public School Boards are presently overrun with applications from BEd. graduates from within the country. Even if you are very experienced, expect to start from the bottom, this is quite common in Canada. You may have better chances in private schools where they look for an "ethnic variety" in teachers. No-one will (and can) sponsor you as a teacher, and employer can only do that if he can prove that you have a skill that cannot be found among the (available) Canadian workforce.
