Why are Toronto's nightclubs SO DEAD NOW? (entertainment industry)?
-
I been in Toronto, ONT (Canada) since 1993, and since high school I been partying In Toronto's downtown (nightclubs) and since 1999 to 2004 the Nightclubs in downtown were so packed on Friday & Saturday & Sunday nights, that you if you went out on those days in Toronto? You would think that you're in Manhattan, NY. But after the year 2004, not only that no one from any type of ages DON'T party here anymore, and not only ppl are running away to part else where, but the worst of all, the nightclubs in downtown are closing one, by one.& To me: it seems like is because of the new Toronto's mayor that pushed ppl away from the nightclubs. it's very annoying and stupid, to see your neighborhood being turned into a dead town. Simply because of a dumb mayor. & I want other ppl's intake on this: (Toronto's is one the most expensive city in North America) And the nightclubs where bringing in a lot of money to this town. But now... because of the lost in our nightclubs, everything else is being increased! :'(

every nightclub I walk by is packed full every weekend even in the bitter cold, line going around the block type of thing. I have no idea what you are talking about with no one going to clubs. I personally find clubbing very boring and stupid, as are most people who frequent clubs.

Bad economy, socialist city councilors, the growth of clubbing in other parts of the city like king west ossington and queen west, multiple stabbings and a reputation as one of the tougher club districts in north america. All probably factors in why it has slowed down. But things should look good in the future. I mean have you seen the amount of condos going up downtown? We have the most buildings going up in north america despite the recession. So expect in the next 5 years for things to get crazier than ever before as more people are going to be living in the core. And as for the other posters who obviously have nothing but contempt for Toronto. Grow up and put some intelligent debate forward rather than spouting off nonsense. I highly doubt the people who go clubbing in Toronto are the type to go work the rigs in Alberta. Besides, in case you haven't heard, fort mac is a ghost town right now. You obviously don't live in Toronto nor have you been since the late 90's because all I see when I walk around town is cranes, which means there are lot's of jobs in this city. EDIT "but Ontario is still a 'have not' province and my people are still working in Fort Mac, for now. Cheers." A have not province for a whole 2 years, after decades of having the entire country sucking its tit. Ontario should be so ashamed, how dare they take back a little bit of the billions they've given to this country. If Alberta were not digging money out of the ground, it would most definitely be sucking off Ontario just like the rest. Being from Saskatchewan I understand what Ontario has done for this country and am not an arrogant western pride douche. In case you haven't noticed, when people have made they're money in Fort Mac ,they leave because its a hole.

There's no work in Ontario since the late 1990s, so everybody moved to Fort Mac and have been making mega bucks there. Edit to the other poster: I wasn't bashing Toronto. I do enjoy visiting quite often. Just merely stating the facts as I know them to be. From my province, for decades, our people traveled back and forth to Toronto to work. Up until about 2003, that is. Since then, they have been going to Fort Mac and still are doing so. It may have slowed down some in the past year, but it is not a ghost town. I'm glad to hear that construction work is booming in Toronto, but Ontario is still a 'have not' province and my people are still working in Fort Mac, for now. Cheers.
