What do you think about the green city?

Do you think Toronto City is a green City?

  • A city has no walking distance campground nor any reachable within public transit camp site? Torontonians still drive to zoos where transit available, and the city don't even has a aquarium. Those parks in Toronto start to shrink from edge to edge by developers permitted by corrupted city councils. Toronto don't even has it's own Garbage incinerator except dump those garbage onto other people backyards.

  • Answer:

Toronto is a huge metropolitan - there are campgrounds at Downsview Park and some in Pickering - so technically there are some within the GTA and its surrounding vicinities. Public transportation is still relied on heavily and quite often chosen over other modes. The Toronto Zoo has a huge aquarium by the way. Toronto is expanding and growing and moving toward a greener future. Subway expansion is expected to commence shortly (Metrolinx) and GO Transit is also expanding as well. There is no perfect city and nobody will be pleased with everything, but TO is still a better place to live than many other cities. It's safe, there's always some event going on, it's an interesting city with a lot of history, and is home to millions of citizens from all over the world.

Toronto relies too much on gas. The commuter rails run on diesel and THERE'S NO SUBWAY AT THE AIRPORT!!! Overall, Toronto's not as green as most other green cities, but green enough.

Depends on what you mean by green. Toronto has taken many steps towards being a very green friendly city. And we pollute far less than the average Canadian.

I read somewhere that Toronto has the most green space per capita in N America.

Many years ago in the summer I remember looking out from an office block across the city and I thought to my self "man there are a lot of trees in TO". I don't know if that has changed much but all those trees in a major metro centre is just amasing. At least TO has parks and subways and electric public transit. Ottawa is still stuck trying to figure out diesel buses that they are stuck with and they only have one light rail system. TO's incinerator was blocked by the NDP years ago
