What's pediatric residency like?

Studying in Quebec, Living in Ontario, whats the impact on my residency status?

  • I'm in a sort of weird situations and I'm hoping you guys can help me sort it out. For starters, I'm a resident of Quebec (born and raised) and attend University at night, part time. However, being independent, its obviously a daunting task to live alone with little financial support from parents and take a heavy school load. Which leads to my situation. Because of the financial burden, I took a job for a logging company in Ontario (I know its weird since I could take one in Quebec), I took a job there because the job paid well and comes with a generous benefit package which I could sure use such as free board and lodge. So meals and housing is provide which leads to my problem. Because I've been doing this for over a year now, I know my residency status in Quebec will be null and void because I live in Ontario very soon, and I'm wondering how it will impact me in terms of receiving government benefits such as student loans, or the cost of education if I lose my status.

  • Answer:

The cost of attending university will surely go up, and you will not be able to make use of any services provided by the Québec government to its residents. You will have to seek financial aid, etc. from the Ontario government from now on. Don't forget to apply for an Ontario health card (OHIP) and driver's license.
