What are some nice towns in Quebec (within 2 hours from Quebec City) to visit?
-
Hi! We're looking for towns in Quebec that will have nice B&Bs to stay at. We like nature - lakes, rivers, forests, hiking etc. We're hoping to find a town that's within a 2 hours drive of Quebec City, but we're open to other parts of Quebec (but not Montreal, we've been there before). I've never been anywhere but Montreal so I have no idea where to start looking! We need to find a town by tomorrow, so time is of the essence! Thanks for your help. :)

Answer:
If you want places that are within two hours of Quebec City, the two places I would suggest would be to head southeast into the Eastern Townships, or north towards Mont Saint Anne. If you decide to go south, there are several B&B's near Lac Megantic which you can check out. That area has several parks and green spaces, a large lake, and a river. Odds are good you'll find something you like there, and it probably won't be too expensive because not too many tourists outside of Quebec go to this region. The other area to the north is the ski resort of Mont Saint-Anne. At this time of year, there is no skiing, but the trees should be starting to change color and its wonderful to just hike up the mountain to get a view of the valley and river below. There is the provincial park there too for added greenspace and hiking. The advantage this place has to Lac Megantic is that it is less than an hour northeast from Quebec City. A B&B in Quebec is known as a "gite", so if you see that name, you know what it is referring to. I cannot recommend any specific one because I have never stayed at a B&B in the area, but you can try to find a good B&B at this website: http://www.bbcanada.com/quebec
