When is the best time of year to visit Niagara Falls?

  • Which season is best for sightseeing, etc - Fall? Summer? What about a particular month? I don't want to plan a trip and find out all of the parks and attractions are closed, or that I've chosen the rainest month of the year!

The falls are beautiful all times of the year. Most attractions are open year round as well, although some have reduced hours off season. The summer is very very popular, so you will be fighting huge crowds and long lines up everywhere you go. Not to mention traffic issues. Personally I don't find it that enjoyable. I think the fall is a much better choice. That way you can actually enjoy the falls and attractions without being so squished. Besides, the colours in the fall are absolutely gorgeous. Aim for the beginning of October for the best colours. Also, if you can do weekday sight seeing instead of weekends, there will be even less crowds to deal with. Also, if you ever get a chance to go in the winter time - that's when its the most beautiful. You won't believe the size of the icicles where the falls start to freeze. Also the trees and bushes, and lamp posts in the parks near by get completely covered in ice which sparkles in the sunlight. Its absolutely breathtaking. And the best part - virtually no crowds - just enjoyment of all the sights and sounds that make that area so gorgeous without any hassles. Enjoy your trip!!

Actually right now is the perfect time. The crowds of summer are mostly gone - most of the attractions are still running, but with limited hours and the weather is perfect.
