Sightseeing tours niagara falls?

I will be in Niagara Falls for one day in June and I see there are a lot of different companies offering tours of the area. I was wondering is it best to take these tours or to explore by yourself?? I will have only around 6 hours in Niagara Falls. What companies do the best tours??

Exploring by your self. Its cheaper. You get to go to wherever you want. Just buy the tickets for the shuttle buses.

Are you going to the American side or the Canadian side? We went to the Canadian side and we went on the Maid of the Mist. You can walk past it and view it but it's much better to get in there and feel the force. (They do provide you with a plastic mac).

There is no need to book any tours at all. You can walk around the area and see everything and if you choose to do an attraction you can book it on the spot..there are people everywhere around there that sell the attractions.
