I am looking for telemarketing jobs.

Jobs in Montreal which do not require bilingualism?

  • I am in Montreal for last 3 months, moved here from Asia. I am a Telecom Engineer by profession and have been trying to look something in my field but no luck so far. So in order for survival of my family and myself, I have started looking into odd jobs, so that I can start bringing some money home. But unfortunately all jobs here require bilingualism. I will be very much grateful if someone could let me know how can I find work here and where, if I know only English. I have heard about some telemarketing firms who hire anglophonics.... Will appreciate if I could know about weblinks/names of these call centres. Help me!

    Try looking at the west part of Montreal. You could try looking at warehouse jobs, shipping/receiving, Data entry positions, it's going to be hard at first to work at a low end job, when you have so much experience. Just try to get a warehouse factory job, and take some part time courses in french. Most jobs when they say you have to be bilingual, you don't have to speak perfect french, just enough to understand, get by. Good luck Check out emploi quebec website. west island or english companies would be good places or there is the option of working at an english school, there is also the option of living in montreal and working in ontario, but there is a commute for that.

Some telemarketing firms do, but your English is going to have to be pretty good. Barring that, you'll have to check job agencies that hire factory workers. (look under "employment agencies" in the Yellow Pages.)
