Answer:
Canada is good. The more popular cities are Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Vancouver, St. Johns, etc. The job market is still good here. People are losing jobs but not so fast as the US, and you can still get a job relatively easily. I live in London Ontario which is a smaller city, about 380k now I think. It's really nice, and the cost of living is CHEAP. Even compared to Toronto, it's practically free so I could only imagine what it would be like compared to NYC. Right now, I pay 400 dollars rent for a really nice house (which I share). My total cost of living WITH school is around 1500/month and that's living comfortably with going to bars and stuff often. A house would be about 125k here. Minimum wage is just under 10 dollars. You can get a really big apartment downtown for under 700 dollars a month. For the same thing in Toronto you might be paying around 1400 dollars. Vancouver and Calgary (anything west) is also quite expensive to live... Vancouver is actually one of the most expensive cities in Canada to live, although it is very multi-cultural because it is on the pacific rim. Vet tech, you'd likely be looking at a 3 year college course in most places. I Don't think you need a Visa to travel to canada (you'd have to check w/ the government to be sure on that one) but to go to school you'd need a study visa and to get a job you'd need a work visa. Afterwords, it won't be too hard finding a job. Temperature, really varies depending on where you live. Vancouver is fairly mild. It doesn't get too hot or too cold. Maybe stays between -5c and 20C. Toronto and London are roughly like NYC but not too cold in the winter. It gets up to around 32C for most of the summer. (canada does get VERY hot in the summer). Montreal is a little cooler all year round, and anything more north as well. Calgary is always pretty cold.. it never really gets HOT, just warm. Montreal, French is mainly spoken, but the majority of people know both English and french, and some only know french. It's not hard for an english speaking person to get by in any part of quebec, as there are not many people that don't know at least some english. And quebec is nice too because the drinking age is only 18! A few provinces are 18 but You can drink anywhere else in Canada at 19 :) Good luck, it's a nice place to live. I love Ontario (London specifically) because it's cheap and the weather doesn't suck... oh, and tuition is CHEAP. Let me know if you have any more questions!

You need to get a visa to move to Canada. A visa that allows you to work can take 3 years to get. That is, you have to basically go through the green card process all over again to move to Canada.

If you are considering Vancouver vs Montreal they are both wonderful places. I live next to Vancouver myself. I'm an outdoor person so I love the mountains/ocean and beautiful parks that the area has to offer. The temperature can be found: http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/cabc0308 for Vancouver and if you want Montreal you can also find it there. The weather in Vancouver is fairly mild in the winter and we do not get much snow, mainly rain (this year was an exception). It typically warms up and we get nicer weather around March/April. We have been enjoying some really nice weather lately (21C or 69F). We get nicer weather over here in Vancouver compared to Montreal. However that's not to say it doesn't stay fairly nice in Montreal. It just doesn't get that cold here. For job searching and rental prices to get the most accurate list check out this information below: Job Search Websites For Canada Career Builder http://www.careerbuilder.ca/ Workopolise http://www.workopolis.com/ Monster http://www.monster.ca/ Craigslist http://www.craigslist.org/about/sites Canadian Job Bank http://www.jobbank.gc.ca/ News Papers For Vancouver and Montreal Vancouver The Province http://www.theprovince.com/ The Vancouver Sun http://www.vancouversun.com/ Montreal Montreal Gazette http://www.montrealgazette.com/ Rental Prices Craigslist (look under the job search websites for the link) Kajiji http://london.kijiji.ca/ The job market is not the best, but compared to the US it is in better shape. If you have more of a specialty then you have better chances of getting a job as opposed to someone looking for general labor. There seem to be more jobs out west compared to jobs in eastern Canada. Rental prices can be fairly cheap or fairly expensive depending on location/# of bedrooms/. It also depends on how nice the place is. Like in Vancouver for example you can find a place to rent for $700. Just keep in mind it might not be the nicest place. It also depends on how many bedrooms you want as if you just want a 1 bedroom place it wont cost you as much as a 3br. My place only costs me $1200 and that is a 3br 2bath townhouse . .really nice place in a great location. You can get more of an idea by looking up properties on craigslist or kajiji. They will give you more specific prices. =) Popular cities to name a few include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Montreal, St. Johns, Halifax, etc. Canada is a very beautiful place depending on where you go. There is a lot of natural beauty to be found. For the most part however, it really is not that vastly different form the US. If you were considering California, I would recommend you go to Vancouver as it may not have everything California has to offer as far as weather, but it is closer then Montreal. I have never applied for a visa myself but if you are not a Canadian Citizen then you will need a visa from what I understand.
