Where should a college student travel for winter break?

Cheapest route of travel from Cleveland to Montreal?

  • My friend and I want to go up to Montreal over the winter break, but I'm a college student and would have to fund the whole thing myself. I've spent the last hour researching cheap ways to travel from Cleveland to Montreal, but the cheapest I've seen was around 350$ for the round trip flight. Now I understand that's vacation time so obviously flights will be more expensive, but I am horrible with researching this stuff and was curious if anyone has found a cheap way to travel? I would appreciate any help! Thanks!

  • Answer:

The cheapest way that I found other than renting a car was via Amtrak. Its is about $270 round trip but takes a lot longer than flying. Otherwise, your fare of $350 is about as good as I saw too. Most flights over the winter break period will be in excess of $500. If you are prepared to spend 18 hours on a bus each way, you can get a Greyhound fare for about $110 return with advance purchase or $180 fully refundable.

Try looking for tickets/hotels deals on coupon sites like coupondawg.com or retailmenot, they usually offer exclusive deal from travelocity, priceline, expedia, and agoda (cheap but hotels only). I'm sure you'll be able to find some deals/discounts even during high season (winter break)!!!

The very cheapest way would be a bus trip. I think Greyhound has a ticket for $200 round trip.
