alot? no, not really Italians are the biggest ethnic group in Montreal, but the majority are mainly from what is called 'italia meridionale' which is basically central-southern italy. It has to do with the waves of immigration in the 50s and 60s. The northerners (Milanesi, Friulani, Genovesi, Romagnoli and so on) did not really emigrate from Italy, whereas the people considered part of the 'meridionale' emigrated italy and came to Canada. I don't have exact numbers, but there is a large number of sicilians (provincia di Agrigento) and Calabresi. I know of only a few northerners, my aunt's father is friulano and my two italian teachers (one from torino and another from Liguria (not from Genova)

Well we do have Little Italy in Montreal, not sure if any from Genova. Plenty of italians to go around here.
