What's the best way to travel from Montreal to DC?

  • I'm a student so I'm on a pretty tight budget. Amtrak isn't possible because of their very late arrival times in DC. I've also had some pretty terrible experiences on Greyhound in which a passenger assaulted and threatened me. The driver and later the customer service clerks did nothing, but I digress. Perhaps this was an isolated incident, but it'd be nice to find a different way of travel. In essence, I'm looking for an affordable way to get from Montreal, Canada to Washington DC. I'll be travelling midweek in April/May. Thanks!

    One bad experience. Still, I would go with Greyhound, and sit nearest to the front as possible.

i went there by car and it was fine. and yes, driving there, you put yourself at risk of getting assaulted at a rest area and that no one will do anything too. that could also happen on a plane. by boat. but at least when your on land, you can escape more easily then if you were in the air or in the middle of the ocean, that's IF you really feel threathened. it's just things that MAY happen in life, and once in a while, it DOES happen. but if you go by bus, at least you don't have to go thru the hassle of actually drving 10-12 hours.
