What jobs can you have as an architect?

Architect jobs in montreal, no French?

  • I am contemplating a move to Montreal, for my husband's job. I am an architect with 15 years of experience in commercial and high-rise design in the US (New York and Chicago). I do not (yet) speak French. I know Portuguese and Italian, and will likely have some basic French by the time we move there in the Fall. Will it be impossible for me to find work?

  • Answer:

Probably difficult but not impossible, as you will be studying it and learning it. I suggest you not wait until the autumn but begin to call and canvass metro-Montréal area architectural firms now. But are you a Canadian citizen or, if not, do you have a Canadian and Québecois immigrant visas?

It's going to be difficult to find work in your area of expertise and the lack of French isn't going to help.Think about the situation of an immigrant to the USA trying to find similar work without English language skills.
