Is Sri Lanka a safe travel destination for a mid-20's aged American male traveling alone?

    If you are backpacking throughout the country , then you have to be extra careful with the ongoing fighting between the insurgent group with the army otherwise. Try avoid smaller towns / remote places. Tourists have never been target by this fighting groups though is just that you don't want to be caught in between them when fights erupted. If you are going to the tourist spots or bigger cities, then it is absolutely safe.

Its fine, I find a lot of tourists around here, the war hasn't lessened the number of foreigners plus the people are freindly and are ever ready to help. I lived in the UAE for 18 years and have been living in Colombo for the past 2 years, am a Sri Lankan, and I love the place. Hope you come and enjoy your stay :)
