Is it safe to travel to Indonesia?

Is it safe to travel in Indonesia at the moment?

• I am thinking about going to Indonesia in September for a few weeks but the travel warning in my country is saying EXTREME risk of a potential terrorist attack in the near future. Anyone know anything about this? I probably got more chance of being struck by lightning right!?!

  Meh. Last time I was in Indonesia there was a civil war going on. These things never really effect you - and if you arnt willing to take the risk, then i am amazed you are willing to walk down the road to the shops. Yeah, you are more likely to get struck by lightening. Go there, and have the time of your life. It's awsome. Having said that, it does depend a bit on your ethnicity, age and gender. Youngish white women should have no problem whatsoever. It gets progressivly more dangerous as you get closer and closer to middle-aged asian men. But even then, i think you would be pretty safe.
