What to see and do and buy in Bali?

  • We're going on a holiday in Bali and I was wondering if any of you have advice on what to see, do and what shopping items are uniquely Balinese. I'll be there for 5 days and would also like to go off the beaten paths (i.e. off the main beaches) - are there any good forest resorts/getaways?

    I can share with you the places I have visited in Bali recently. 1) Sanur, nice quiet beach area. I've stayed at Ari Putri Hotel. recommended. 2) Ubud, this is a place of Arts. with many art museum, handicraft and painting. 3) Amed, nice fishing village, simple and quiet. I've stayed at Bayu Cottage, recommended. Beautiful view of the sea, the food is nice too! 4) Water Palace, recommended. Things to Do: White water rafting, snorkelling, surfing,diving,laze on the beach. Plenty of off the beat track places to go - all of which will lead to a temple or rice field - not that much to see, one temple looks very much like another Knock offs are very cheap
