What are the essential things to bring on a two-week backpacking trip through Southeast Asia?

  • It's a budget trip but I do want to be as comfortable as possible!

    1. enough cash or credit card (whatever happens you should never run out of cash) 2. light clothing - that would be enough for two weeks( don't forget your swimwear) 3. any medicine for insect bites (particularly mosquitos) 4. don't forget your smile 5. that's all you need 6. have fun!

Very impt. If you are going to the undeveloped areas. A torch light. Blackouts are prone, even in cities like Bali (I exp two blackouts in a three night stay). Money (USD/SGD are good). Light clothings (Light as in thin materials and small in quantity as you are bound to shop).

hiking shoes are a must, big cap or hat for the weather, wind breakers in case it suddenly becomes cold and windy, money, sturdy backpack.

Passport / Travel documents ,Cash and Credit Cards, Light clothing , swim wears , sunblock, camera, insect repellents , Flashlight. Travel informations and maps and some basic medicines for fever , cold and diarrhea. I suggest you to buy travel insurance that meets your needs and covers the whole time you are away. Have Fun !

Main thing is have enough money to see you through any emergency. A phone to stay in touch anywhere you are. Comfortable clothes and shoes and a light windbreaker for the wet season. Not to mention clean underwear to feel good. Have fun, it will be good if you know some local words if you are planning to travel into the countryside, in whichever country. Have fun.

1. Very comfortable shoes 2. Clothing (thin material) 3. Sandals (so you don't have to wear socks as much) 4. Just shorts and tee shirts (no pants or longsleeves) 5. ATM's (call your bank so they know your gonna be there) 6. Hat (covers your head well so it don't get burned)
