How far is Borobudur from Prambanan in Java?

Can anyone PLEASE give me tips on a visit to Borobudur in Java (Indonesia)? Is it easy to visit from Jakarta?

  • I will be leaving for Jakarta later today. I've read just a few hours ago about Borobudur and I wanna visit the place. It used to be one of the 7 Wonders of the World? I would love to have any specific details on travels to Borobudur (if a day tour is possible?) from Jakarta. I would appreciate details, busses, possible cost; if a day tour is possible? Tourist traps maybe? And what to watch out for? Any info is appreciated. Thank you. (I would also appreciate that if your answer is just a simple "Yes" - please spare me THAT kind of reply. Otherwise, i'd be grateful for any tips.)

It is very easy to visit Borobudur from Jakarta by plane or train. The better way is you ask travel agent to arrange your trip. Do not try to go by yourself in your first trip. You can find that travel agent in Jakarta but it always takes more than a day because they also offered another interested places to visit in Jogjakarta. Or you can ask travel agent in Jogjakarta to arrange your a day tour, usually the one day package including another temple like Prambanan. You'd better ask the travel agent in hotel you stay.

Borobudur is ALWAYS a part of Wonders of the World. U do not give limited numbers to Wonders of the World, and it's stupid to have a wonderful place/things being voted as you are voting for some kind of Idol shows. Last time I visited Borobudur was last year. Take a flight to Yogyakarta. Find out a good travel agent (the hotel will help you, I'm sure) to arrange a tour to Borobudur and other temples. Bring a hat if the weather is hot. Bring lots of bottle of mineral water, because u'll be exhausted to climb up the hundreds stairs to the top of the temple. (Try to count the stairs, it's fun!!!) Watch our for the street sellers. Sometimes they're a bit forcing u to buy the goods. Find the quite market outside the temple complex and buy souvenirs there. The most important thing: DO NOT go there on the weekend. It will be fullllll.

Hi... I would suggest you to take plane Jakarta-Yogya, and later join local tour there to visit Borobudur. Yogya itself is a tourist destination town, you will be safe there and I beleive you can trust the tour operator there. Some credible tour operator: smiling tour, anta tour Dont take overland tour unless you are accompanied by locals...besides the rainy season, intercity bus has lots of thief etc. Borobudur, unfortunately, was not voted as one of the 7th wonders of the world...but it is indeed stunning. It has just gone thru some renovation recently...and you can also visit nearby temple too....I hope you enjoy your trip

Borobudur is NOT one of the official 7 wonders. No, it is not possible to take a day tour from Jakarta to Borobudur. The best way to visit Borobudur as a foreign tourist is by group tour. If you go by bus, you may have to spend at least 3 or 4 days. Or you can fly to Yogya (closest city to Borobudur with daily flight from Jakarta). You spend a couple hours of flight from Jakarta to Yogya. Once in Yogya, you can have a day tour to Borobudur. So in total you have to spend several days also. Just make sure you use a group tour from a big company. If you pick a small tour, they may rob you in the middle of the trip because Borobudur is in the middle of nowhere. Normally the tour include sighseeing in Prambanan also.
