Is the shopping in fiji any good?

Spending money in Fiji?

  • I'm getting married in Fiji (Denarau Island) next September. It's still awhile away but I'm trying to work out the budget. I have no idea how much spending money to take for food, activities and maybe a touch of shopping. Can anyone give me some idea? We are going for 15 days including the honeymoon in the same location. (In Australian dollars) On a side note, if anyone has gotten married in Fiji before, any advice regarding ceremony, reception, food, decoration hints etc would be greatly appreciated...

  • Answer:

Depending on your shopping habits, 10000 yen per day should be plenty. 10000yen = $ 121.7800 Australian Dollars It is a widespread misconception that Japan is an expensive place to travel. Surveys show that a lot of foreign visitors are surprised with how inexpensive Japan can be despite the generally high quality of goods and services and even when the yen is strong. The reality is that with careful planning and a little know-how, it is easy to enjoy a budget trip in Japan. The following budget travel guide contains the basics on how to save money on a trip to Japan. For food and drink you should budget $100 Australian per person per day as the restaurants of Denarau Island aren't cheap. Activities could add another $100 pp a day, especially if you'll be scuba diving, riding balloons, jetboating, taking island day excursions, etc. The shopping in the departure lounge at Nadi Airport is good and you'll easily be able to spend any leftover Fiji dollars there. So two people staying 15 days should have $6,000 Australian available (assuming your hotel is prepaid). Upon arrival at Nadi Airport, right after you exist Customs and enter the Arrivals concourse, notice the Western Union office straight ahead. They give good rates for Australian dollars in cash with no commission. Their rates are better than those of the more prominent ANZ Bank kiosks you'll pass on the way to Western Union. A beachside wedding at sunset is everyone's dream. You'll need to make arrangements for flowers, photographer, and wedding coordinator in advance, probably with the help of your resort. Don't forget to bring your own rings!
