Where is Ha Long bay?

What's the best and quickest way to see Ha Long Bay, Vietnam?

  • Going to be in China in late September, and want to take a very short time to fly to Hanoi and get out to Ha Long Bay. Only want to spend about 2 days total, maybe 3 if really necessary. Can I get a good sense of Ha Long Bay (and some good pics) without taking an overnight boat trip?

    I went a few months ago, and found that alot of the information on the internet is really confusing. The best way to do it is to go to one of the travel agents/booking centres (there's so many) following a recommendation I went to the lady on Yen Thai street, and she was fantastic. Book a day ahead, they provide transportation from your hotel and meals, but I would recommend doing an overnight, as the bus ride is a few hours and so you would lose most of your day in travelling. You miss out on canoeing around the bay and swimming if you only do the day trip. I loved Hanoi but the highlight was Halong Bay so try and do an overnight.

you can take a day trip if you don't want to stay overnight on a boat. There is plenty of day cruise around Ha Long Bay. leaving in the morning, returning in the late afternoon... Enjoy!
