Visa for Vietnam for UK/Thai Nationals?

Do i need a visa to travel to Vietnam I am a uk national, do i need a visa to travel to Vietnam for a non business trip of less then 5 years. Do i need to apply for this in the UK or can get a visa on arrival in Vietnam? I will also be travel with my girlfriend who is a Thai national, will she also need a visa, or is Vietnam visa free for Thai's? Thanks for your help. Regards

UK citizen needs a visa to travel to Vietnam eventhough recently visas to Vietnam have been improved in procedure and less frustration for travelers. Most visitors to Vietnam need a visa to enter the country. Visas are exempted for the citizens of the countries, which have signed a bilateral visa exemption agreement with Vietnam, tourist visa may be valid for 15 to 30 days. Citizens from ASEAN countries are Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines and Laos donot need a visa to enter Vietnam but the duration of exempt is different. Vietnam also made a unilateral decision on visa exemption for the Japanese and Korea citizens.

I think it is better and cheaper to get the visa from the travel agent that Oriental Star recommended. It is only 15 USD for the service fee plus 25 USD at the airport.
