    No, I wouldn't. I went there three times while living in Ha Noi. Ha Long Bay is certainly impressive by SE Asian standards, but it doesn't make it on to my list of Top 7 world wide. There are, for example, places in the former USSR (e.g., the Charyn Canyon in Kazakhstan) which are stunning but not known to many western (or Asian) tourists. I've also seen some stunning sights in New Zealand and in Botswana. And among the well-known natural wonders, Ha Long certainly doesn't rank up there with Victoria Falls, Grand Canyon, and Ayer's Rock. Nor did it give me the feeling of awe I had when flying the over the Amazonas and the Sahara - the sizes of those places are simply amazing.

you know,i probably would. the one time i was there it was an awfully nasty day and it was still and amazing place.. someday i'd like to go back and drift around all day on a small boat... there is another place , inland, i believe its called "tam coc". not too far south of ha noi. lime stone formations comming out of the grasslands/ rice paddies with tinny rivers running all around it.. they call it "the inland ha long.". i liked it even better [though it is much much smaller].... maybe 'cause it was a far nicer day...
