Cheapest shopping places?

Any nice shopping places in Bangkok which are having sales from 6th-10th Dec 2009? ;)?

  • I'm travelling to Bangkok on the 6th-10th of November for a shopping spree! Will be staying around Petchburi. Does anyone have any suggestions on shopping places which is a must-visit (e.g. Platinum, MBK, etc) for cheap clothes? Perhaps are there any shopping malls having sales during that period? Would greatly appreciate your help! ;)

    I agree with Bot 23, MBK is a great place to shop. For women, the Platinum Fashion Mall might be the best place for cheap clothes and huge selections. Right around the corner from the Platinum Mall is the Central World Plaza Mall, and around the corner from there is Siam Paragon. Both are higher end malls with name brands and higher prices, there's always something on sale at both malls. Across from Siam Paragon is Siam Square, another popular place for young Thais to shop. At MBK, Platinum and Siam Square sales don't mean much, you need to bargain for the best price. At Siam Paragon and Central World the prices are set, but it never hurts to ask for a discount.

Like previous two answers, MBK and Platinum are great if you want cheap stuff, knock offs, etc from cloths, electronics, accessories, you name it and they'll have it. If you are looking for brand name stuff on sale then you can try Central Shopping Centers across Bangkok (Central World, Central Chitlom, etc) which have discounts often and you might just get lucky and get some good deals. Shopping in these big brand malls (All the Centrals), will enable you to get VAT refund at the airport (7%) when leaving Thailand but MBK and the other cheap places with knock offs won't have that. Then again, you might not need it coz things will be so cheap there. Good luck.
