Honeymoon Hotels in Orlando?

Honeymoon Hotels in Thailand?

  • My fiance and I are planning our Honeymoon for October 2010 in Thailand. We are looking for recommended hotels from those who have ACTUALLY stayed in them, so please describe your experience and why you recommend it. (Or why you don't recommend it.) We've been googling like crazy and all we can find are horrifyingly expensive rates ($600 USD a night!!!) or very, very cheesy packages like those found at www.honeymoonthailand.com. Here is what we are looking for: (it doesn't have to have everything on the list) - $100 USD or LESS per night. - Honeymoon benefits (free massage, free breakfast, anything) - Intimate/quaint! Non-commercials hotels/inns/bed&breakfast are great if you can recommend. - Locations are negotiable since we want to see a lot of Thailand. Bangkok and Phuket for sure, even though they are so far from each other. Something in between might be nice. - 14 nights most likely, so any deals surrounding that are great too - Split nights between multiple hotels okay, if we can get some good recommendations - Private tours are a plus! - Pool or hot tub is a plus, but not required. - Airport pick-up/drop-off a plus. We are NOT looking for: - Cheesy tourist packages - Cruises - 100% beach. We want to see a lot of the rich Thai culture, not just beaches. - 40+ person tour with lots of college kids. Its our honeymoon, not our spring break. Thank you in advance! I always choose "best answer" so please be thorough and helpful!

Good news: October means the rates are lower because it is low season. Bad news: Depending on where you are, it can be quite rainy during that time of year. I would expect some rain on some of the days. Tours: Most hotels have a tour desk. You will also find no shortage of tour operators in Thailand, but I wouldn't expect a tour to be included in the room rate (would be highly unusual). Bangkok has a number of great hotels & it shouldn't be hard finding a room rate around 100 USD or less during that time. I've personally stayed at the Amari Boulevard in Bangkok, which was around that price range and in a great location off of Sukhumvit Road. I would also consider the Riverside section of Bangkok so you have easy access to the Chao Praya (dinner cruises, etc.) Note: I did want to advise that many of the 3-star hotels in Thailand are generally very nice; 4-star hotels are also almost on par with many 5-star resorts; so you might want to splurge on activities over room. Phuket: Many of the hotels I've stayed at generally exceed that price range, unfortunately. Phuket is generally a little pricier than many other areas of Thailand, and many of the 4-5 star hotels properly reflect that. If you don't want tourist crowds in Phuket, try staying in the Nai Yang or Nai Thon beach areas. Other options for Phuket, which will have more tourists, would include Kata and Surin. Other locations: I would recommend either Khao Lak or Krabi. While they are considered beach towns, you will find that those areas have a great deal of natural beauty and attractions to besides the beach. If you really want to experience the cultural side of Thailand, however, you would best be served by going to Chiang Mai in the north (considered the cultural center of Thailand). Guides or hotel links for the areas in Thailand mentioned can be found below. Since it is low-season here then, you might want to wait until a few months before your trip before actually booking (finding a room generally shouldn't be difficult).

It will probably be the most commercial hotel around but the Hilton in Bangkok will definitely rock your world and the service is the best I have ever had in all of my travels. http://www.yukiba.com/416-bangkok-thailand-asia-trip.html

Choose a beautiful location first like Phuket,Krabi or Koh Samui and then search for good but reasonable hotels

$100 or less / night and you want possibly free massage (maybe), airport pickup (no way) , private tour (no way), hot tub (no way). What you can get with $100 is a 4 star hotel room, bouquet of flowers maybe some chocolates and if you are lucky a bottle of wine or champagne or maybe a free 30 min massage. Free breakfast should be included at most hotels for $100. The bigger and more commercialized hotels are actually better at accommodating your needs since many would have some sort of spa facility, and more likely to offer you flowers and other little things compared to little inns and B&B. FYI rooms with hot tubs will cost at least $300 /night. For $100 / night - you will most likely be looking at 3 star hotels, you will be stretching your budgets if you want to stay at 4-star hotels. Remember hotels will charge taxes which will be around an EXTRA 17%, so keep that in mind. So you will be looking at $70-80 hotel rooms which are 3 star hotels, so don't expect them to get any free stuff. You said you want to go to Bangkok and Phuket, I'm assuming you will be flying there, plane tickets will cost around $150-200 roundtrip. You mentioned staying somewhere in between Bangkok and Phuket? unless you are taking a bus/train to save money, I would highly not recommend you do so. There is not much to do in between. Expect to pay around $100 for 3 star hotels in Phuket and $150+ for 4 star. Go to Krabi if you just want to relax by the beach (you can go island hopping! fun!) its 20-30% cheaper than Phuket as well. Private tours will cost you at least $150 for two people per day. Keep an open mind and don't expect a luxurious honeymoon for the budget you are looking at. I would suggest shortening your travel to spending 5-7days by the beach and maybe 3 days in Bangkok. This way you won't feel like you are on a budget honeymoon! and may get more free stuff for staying longer at a 4 star hotel. Hope this info helps, enjoy and have a good one.

Short and sweet answer from Aussie John - In Bangkok I stayed at the 5 Star Siam @ Siam Design Hotel (I book through www.asiarooms.com in advance and when the Aussie $ is strong which ultimately costs me less money). It's 10 minutes walk from Siam Square Shopping Centres and it has a good swimming pool and a great "all you can eat" Western Buffet Breakfast. In Chiang Mai I stay at the 5 Star Rarinjinda Wellness Spa Resort Chiang Mai. Most rooms overlook a truly spectacular crystal clear large swimming pool. We were given a free yoga session and received discount spa packages as well as a good buffet breakfast at their restaurant which is across the road from the hotel on the banks of the Ping River. This hotel is extremely quiet (noise wise), a real honeymooners paradise and the rooms are first class! The hotel is 10 minutes walk to the Night Bazaar Markets. A little expensive but definitely worth the experience and can be booked through www.asiarooms.com or other hotel booking websites for a lower rate then the hotel will offer you unless you are a Thai National or can speak fluent Thai.
