  if that person also has Y! make them one of your contacts and store their phone number under their contact... they need to allow (under their Y! profile) to be able to receive SMS..... however keep in mind 3 things.... 1) it is free for u to send to them but their carrier may charge them- although most people pay for unlimited text these days that are avid SMS users 2) that person has to make sure their carrier is supported by Y! and most are 3) if u both have mobile internet on your hand phones it might be easier to IM and when they off line their phone will alert them when they have a msg other wise if u know their mobile carrier u can go to that website and they ususally have where u can send a text for free but the receiver will be charged their standard rates unless they have unlimited on their plan.....
