Who is the most popular actress in Thailand?

Buddhist from Thailand, please answer this question about the original "Shutter" movie?

  • In the foreign original version of "Shutter" it appears that the characters in that movie were Buddhist. Yet I noticed in the last scene where "Jane" is looking over her vacation pictures, that she is wearing a cross. Why is this? If the actress who is playing the part is Buddhist (?) why is she wearing a cross. Is she isn't Buddhist and christian, shouldn't the director of the movie make her remove her personal jewelry before filming the film? Are there Buddhist-Christians in Thailand, is so how would you explain what they believe?

  • Answer:

some thai people wear a cross as an accessories,' cause it looks cool, that's it,no religious meaning (it's the same that some westernesr have buddhist statue at home,'cause they think it's cool and exotic). .................................. but if u ask about buddhist-christians exist in thailand? well, how to say.......... yeah,i should say "yes",at least it's me. i'm thai and i'm kind of what u asking about. i believe in buddha and his dhama,i do many things that can count me to be a good buddhist. but in the same time,i also believe in God. i believe that god exist somewhere and talk to us sometime occasionally. every night i pray to buddha and god. i don't know that the other thai believe the same way as me or not. but u had asked that are there buddhist-cristians here or not,so at least is me. ............................ anyway, religious is the way to teach man to be a human,so whatever religios that i or u are believing is okay,if that religios teach us to be a good people, good soul and do a good karma.

I'm Buddhist, a Thai and living in Thailand. I wear cross sometimes, so does my mother. Partly, because Buddhism is more of a philosophy in the strict sense of the term, and not religion as such there is no belief or faith in Buddhism, so there is no prohibition to wear cross or enter into any other religion temple. I went into most temples of other religions, including Christian and ate bread and drank wine in the church before although they said I'm not supposed to as they signify blood and flesh of Jesus. I've never been into the Muslism mosque as they did not allow me. Still, I'm a very strick Buddhist in my own interpretation of it, as philosophy (or as religion if you like). Partly, a cross is a nice symbol and I have it in gold, whereas my mom has it in diamond and platinum. I read bible as well, although I have not converted into another religion, as I think Buddhism is simply ample for me.

I live in Thailand, and have seen people here wearing a cross as a necklace. My wifes 18 yo son has a chain round his neck with a cross on it, I doubt he even knows what it signifies. Just as you might see a buddhist statue in a home in the west as an ornament, it doesnt mean any thing.
