Answer:
You can do quite a bit with B5000. It depends on the quality, but jewelry ranges for B50 to as high as jewelry gets any where else. I would recommend MBK to start, they have fake Tiffany too. Always fun. If a seller asks for B100 baht then go down to something like B60 and keep going. They like the bargaining. Make sure they know you mean business. Also, if you see locals shopping, watch to see how much they are charged for an item. That way you will know how much is right, so you don't get ripped off. Insist your receive the same price. Bags will go from B199 to B3000. Depends on the quality again. Cheap bags will be plastic and most likely won't last long. Go for bags around B2000 if you want something good. Ask about leather. For calls, get a sim card for your phone or use a payphone and follow the instructions. Or, if you have internet wherever you stay, Skype all the way.

At the shopping places, market price of fashion things are 199 baht; clothes, shoes, ladies bags, etc. No need to bargain, its fixed price. (I sometimes bargain to 190 or 180, just sometimes). For the better quality of things, maybe 259, 299, 359..., you can bargain just a bit. Don't be worry about the price if you are shopping at the shopping street or blazza because the price of things are the same and hard to bargain. Hope you enjoy shopping here!

I don't really understand the answer above - not all things are 199 baht... prices will vary according to quality, quantity and where you are - The tourist shops can ask outrageous prices; I was once asked 10,000 baht for an item I can buy for 200 - - there is no substitute for knowledge - take some time and shop around, compare prices - if you are shopping for business, go to wholesale markets, if not, it only boils down to what it is worth to you - - be polite, keep your wits - it is your money - if the price is not right, don't buy..
