Has anyone had or is anyone having rotator cuff surgery?

Has anyone had shoulder surgery (rotator cuff) in Bumrungrad Hospital in Bangkok Thailand?

  • How did it go? Did it cure the problem? Do you still have shoulder problems? I believe that I have shoulder tendonitis, bursitis, or a partial rotator cuff tear. I am planning to go to Thailand in a few months to get it diagnosed and treated and I am wondering if anyone else had an experience there with shoulder surgery. Could you tell me about it so I can know what to expect as far as the procedure and the results? Are you happy that you had surgery? If you didn't have surgery but instead had a shot of cortizone did that help?

    I just had an operation on my shoulder, about 4 weeks ago in Bumrungrad. I went in Saturday afternoon, was operated early in the evening, and allowed to go home Sunday afternoon. My problem is completely gone. The surgeon (ask for Dr. Panya) was excellent. After the second session of therapy, I didn't have to do that anymore. Just doing some exercises at home was enough. The hospital is excellent in all aspects but one.The food is truly terrible.

I had knee replacement surgery at Bumrungrad and Dr Payna was also my surgeon. My wife's uncle is also a surgeon at Bumrungrad and recommended him to us. So he comes recommended. He's a good surgeon but no bed side manners. The hospital meets western standards except it seems the nurses/aids could use a little more training, (don't know how to apply an ice pack for example) But I disagree about the food. I think the food was great and they are very flexible with the meal to suit you.
