Do customs hold packages for a while. i sent something from thailand via airmail 2 months ago!?

Hi, since you sent a big package, there is a good chance it could be held up by the US Customs. Though usually they will send you a notification letter to either collect or to run through the contents with them. In event of taxation. Have your room-mate check if there was such advice from your postal office. Also, as advised by others, check with the post office you posted the item from. Using the counterfoil when you sent the package with the declaration and such, you can ask the PO to check what happened, if it did reach the US. If not, what can you claim from them? Looks like you have to be prepared for the worst if these checks still bear no result..

It is true that package is possibly stolen. It happens a lot in international mail. I work for the post office and I hate to admit that when mailing internationally the "other guys" have a decided advantage. Companies like UPS and FedEx are able to take the package all of the way -- meaning your package never leaves their hands. Unfortunately, the US Postal Service only works in the US. So, either we accept mail from a foreign post office or we hand it off to one depending on which way it is going. One exception is Global Express Guarantee. In this case the US Postal Service hands the mail to our partner and they deliver the mail and do the customs. Another secure way is registered mail. The mail has to be signed for along the way. In the US that is the most secure way to mail something. The Hope Diamond was mailed using registered mail. However, all of this does little to help you. Did you mail to the US or from the US? If it was mailed to the US have your roommate call the local PO to see if they have it. Sometimes the notification is mis-placed. Check with the office you mailed it from and see what they say as to how long it should take. Depending upon how you mailed it, it can take some time especially with a large package.

if u sent it from thailand by air mail,so u can use the tracking no. it's on the the sending enclose paper (i don't know what it call exactly,but when u sent,u had to write the address and some detials of price on one paper,right? so that's paper have a tracking no. it's begin with CP and 8 or 9 or 10 no. and end with TH). use the tracking no. and go to the post office in your town. i think they can check it for u that the parcel already arrive in usa yet or not.
