Money for 10 days in thailand?

  • accom and airfairs are paid for. i will be leaving australia over the xmas break for ten days. what would be a reasonable amount of money to take to thailand.. we are a couple and dont want to live it up just see the sites and have a little fun nd maybe a little bit of shopping but not go over board.

    It depends if you are only going as far as bangkok,even in bangkok there are many wondrous places only bangkok has, With only 10 days you will see very little as it takes a while to become accustomed to the city find a good tuk-tuk or taxi to take you around the trains are cheap and the buses very cheap ,but you can come to an agreement by bargaining a day price with a taxicab, the first day when you settle in have a walk down Sukumvit rd ( it can take you all day and all night if you wish ( thousands of shops they have every thing you could want lack of space but enjoy TOM

Well if your hotel is near the Skytrain you already have a way to save some taxi money and time. For food why not figure out how much you would spend for meals in your country and use that as a guide. You can save money on meals by eating at food courts and even in restaurants in supermarkets like Foodland and Tops. You can even pick up groceries in supermarkets if you really want to save a little money! Meter taxi cabs are pretty cheap in Bankok if you only pay the meter fares! Meter taxi cabs are cheaper than tuk-tuks. You can get tours from travel agencies pretty cheap. Tour company picks you up at your hotel and returns you there at the end of the day. From a tour list I have the prices seem to run around 400 to 1300 baht each. Overnight tours and the national park Khao Yai a little higher. Bring a debit card and use an ATM for cash if you need more cash. I think you could get by with a $30 to $60 a day. No one spends money at the same rate, for me I could get by with quite a bit less! You don't say where. I would budget USD $150-$200 per day. It is better to have more than not enough when on vacation.

G,day mate I Travel to thailand a fair bit and it depends on what sort of place ya want to stay at I normally pay around 40-50 buck per night for a half decent place with all the normal luxury's but ya can get a place for 20 bucks a night easy just not so nice we need the aussie buck to go up a bit it is at the worst now than it has been for years normally for 10 day I reckon a couple grand would be enough but now I reckon ya be better of tacking 3 grand should see ya right.

It depends what you want to buy, what you want to see, do you want to go to pubs etc. As you are a couple you won't need much :) so I would say 2500 - 3500 BHT a day. But as I said, it depends what you want to buy and how much you gonna party (it's what pushes the cost up usually). Martin
