It was during Thaksin's administration, and Thailand did not accept any help from international donors at all. This was because Thaksin announced that Thailand was able to take care of her people. All the people were aided by the Government. At the immidiate remedy, there were Government officials, NGOs and practically all other citizens who were not affected by the disaster help pitch in to assist those who loss in the disaster, in which include the grand son of the King. Thai people, despite the fact that they are not rich, they are not poor either. When it comes to helping people in need, the Thais are very generous. I don't remember the event may be and earthquake recently in Africa, but the Thailand were to the top contributors of private donor to assist that county. I can find out the details for you. Thailand has always assist Indonesians in time of trouble from natural disasters, mostly in form of sending foods and sometimes also money from the Government, since Thailand and Indonesia are very close neighour with long and close ties.
