What's the best place to stay in bangkok that's cheap, near the international airport and markets?

• my family's planning to go to bangkok for vacation but we wanted to go there without taking any package vacation deals. i was hoping that you can give me suggestions on: 1. cheap hotels that's clean and have a good accommodation 2. near the airport so that we don't have to worry about missing our flight 3. near the malls or wholesale markets so we can do our shopping without difficulty of finding our way to the hotel. any suggestions will be very helpful and if you could possibly include the site so that i can check it out. thanks!!!

  The wholesale markets are more in the center of Bangkok quite away from Suvarnabhumi Airport, it's probably best to stay in the city and leave yourself plenty of time to get to the airport when you depart. Plus, there aren't any markets or much to do near the airport. The best wholesale markets are probably Pratunam, the Platinum Fashion Mall across from the Pratunam Market and Bo Bae near Chinatown, and the Pratunam area is close to most of the major malls such as Central World Plaza, Siam Paragon, MBK, Siam Square, etc..
