What Is My Lucky Number?

What's the lucky number in Asia, 8 or 9? I don't remember...?

  • When I was in Bangkok it was explained to me that either 8 or 9 (I don't recall which) was considered the ultimate number, the luckiest number. Which number is it, and what it behind this belief? Thanks! (Kop Koohn Kah....."thank you" in Thai)

    In Thailand, 9 is the lucky number. "kao" also have another meaning; it means to "leap" or go forward which is the opposite of going backward.

8 is preferred over 9 although both are popular numbers. 8 when pronounced means wealth or prosperity. So many chinese especially love this number, and consider it lucky. 9 is also favoured as it means high or long life when pronounced. People go for this number to hope for an everlasting life or continuity in whatever they do. Remember the saying, 'A cat has nine lives'?
