Tourist Visa for Thailand on Entry (previously denied entry to UK)?

  • Hi all, My Australian fiancee was denied entry to the UK last year at Heathrow and now has a cross in her passport from this. She was denied entry for not being able to prove funds and not being clear over her relationship with me. On our honeymoon, we're planning to visit Europe, where she should be allowed entry as my wife (Im Bristsh and an EU citizen) but is there a sizeable chance she may be turned back at Bangkok airport (we plan to stay in Thailand for a few days on the way) ? This would be really bad if she was denied entry somewhere else again as she is scarred by the whole thing and worried she may be refused entry. Obviously there is nothing to guarantee anyone entry. We have emailed the Thai embassy here in Australia and they have just replied that it is up to the Immigration official at the airport. Is there any other re-assurance anyone else can offer? She could apply for a new passport as there systems probably arent linked if she needed to but do you think she needs to? Thanks for your help, Stephen Ward

    Are you saying she is Australian and rejected from UK? Must be some issue other than funds.

Thailand doesn't require tourists from Australia to prove their funds or their relationship with someone in Thailand. The rules in Thailand are different. And your fiance has nothing to worry about. But if she plans to go to UK with you. Then perhaps she should get a new passport. Because customs officials might make trouble for her again, if they see that cross in her passport.
